Wonderous Star: Which finish?

Happy Hump day!

My goodness time flies... So busy at work each day and then so much fun stuff to cram into each evening. I feel like my feet don't touch the floor at the moment but that's fine by me :-).

Time for a quick vote... do you like this beautifully unusual polish with a glossy finish or a matte finish?

Glossy - Seche Vite top coat

Matte - Essie Matte About You
I know this polish is a little love or hate for most people but I have to say that I love it and am really glad to have it in my collection. It's certainly a unique polish and I like it both glossy and matte.

Swatch: OPI: Wonderous Star

Happy Monday loves

Tonight I have a slightly unusual polish to show you. I think this is going to be like marmite for people... you will either love it or hate it. I picked this up in a Sally's sale a while back, £4 instead of £11, but something about it stopped me from picking it up out of my untrieds stash. Until now...

Swatch: Barry M Aquarium: Caspian and Treasure Chest

Good evening lovelies

Hope you all had fantastic weekends? Over too quickly as always but I have had a really good couple of days. Saturday I did the usual house stuff and then I went to my friend Jamie's to do my first childrens nail party! It was her daughter Casey's 9th birthday so I spent the afternoon painting seven lots of teeny tiny nails with lots of bright colours, plenty of glitter and even some funky french tips. It went really well and I had a lovely afternoon.

Today was Sister Sunday :-), so me and the little sis went into the city, shopped a little, ate a lot and then headed home for a dog walk and a Vampire Diaries DVD session. Bliss!

Happy Tuesday lovelies

Tonight I have friends over for a mini dinner party. I have decided upon a Mexican theme and am in the middle of preparing spicy pork tacos with a salsa dressing :-). You all know that I could not leave my lovely orange swatch from yesterday alone, so this is the final look...

Christmas Nails: Christmas Wreath

Happy Christmas Eve!

I am so excited. Honestly cannot remember the last time I was looking forward to Christmas as much as I am this year. I have already had some fantastic meals out with friends, been to family parties and exchanged beautiful gifts but still have so much more planned. Today I have to work but only until 1pm and then Mr LiPP and the puppies are coming to pick me up and we are off on a Festive Dog Walk with my little sis and her dogs and my mum and her dogs. Chaotic but Fun!

What could be more festive than gold sparkle, red sparkle and Christmas wreaths?!

Pink and Orange: Same Accent Nail

Good evening lovelies

So this was a no brainer for me... orange and pink are the perfect summer combination, in my opinion, and the pink from this NV collection is particularly gorgeous.

Beautiful Stormy Skies with Gold Accents

Good evening lovelies

How are we all doing? I am just back from a few days away with work. I have to say I will be glad when this need for travel is over as I hate being away from home, hubby, pups and of my course my blog :-). All the time away leaves me so short on time to paint my nails and enjoy putting posts together and it makes me sad that I only post two or three times a week. Hopefully in the not too distant future I can get back into a blogging routine that makes me happy.

I am in love with this MUA shade called Stormy Skies. It looks charcoal grey in most of this pictures but its actually grey/brown/khaki depending on the light you catch it in. The formula is amazing and they could not be better value at only £1 a bottle for these super cute Essie style minis.

For my accent nail I decided to try out my new Rimmel Metal Rush polish called Gold Save the Queen. Again this polish has a great formula and a really pretty golden shimmer that makes it more of a glitter polish than a metallic foil.

In my usual style I could not just leave it at that so I then added one beautiful coat of a-England She Walks in Beauty. This polish is a pale gold shimmer with the perfect addition of rose gold glitters.

Finally to highlight the beautiful gold shimmers found deep within all of the polishes I used for this manicure I added some square gold studs from Born Pretty.

I love this simple look and I loved the added benefit of being able to take these pictures outside whilst the sun was shining :-)

Friday tomorrow...!

Black & Gold Skittlette

Happy Friday lovelies!

I love the weekends! Tonight we are having our first of several Christmas meals. We will be dining at Loch Fyne with six of our close friends and I cant wait. We booked it several months ago and have already picked our food so all that is left to do is drink fine wine and enjoy ourselves!

Saturday we will be wrapping our Christmas presents and drinking a large amount of Baileys as is traditional in our house! Then on Sunday we are meeting up with lots more of our friends to go for a roast dinner to celebrate Tasha's birthday. Busy but fun.

Onto my NOTD... Black and Gold is such a great combo

For my little finger and thumb nails I used Barry M Gold Mine Glitter. It is the first time I have used this and I love it. Easy to apply and very effective.

For my ring finger I painted the base with two coats of W7 Black and then stamped this gorgeous and detailed lily flower design using Barry M Gold Foil. The design is from plate BM 314.

Now here is where I admit to a nail fail :-(. I originally painted my index and middle fingers with three coats of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons and then stamped the below filigree scroll design using Konad Black. Unfortunately even though I left it to dry for 35 minutes and ran both nails under cold water to 'set' the design they still smudged terribly. Why does Seche Vite hate Konad polish so much?

I couldn't leave it looking all sad and smudgey like that so I quickly removed those two nails and returned to my trusty W7 Black and simple gold studs for added detail.

So how do you like my black and gold skittlette? I think it looks classy :-)

I will return to that beautiful filigree scroll design in the near future

Have fantastic weekends everyone

Mirrorball - Disco Inferno

I have another of the gorgeous and sparkly Models Own Mirrorball polishes to show you tonight... this one is called Disco Inferno.

So much glitter... this Models Own frosting has shards of gold glitter with bronze hex glitters and lots of gold, bronze and green round glitters in varying sizes.

I added just one layer of Disco Inferno over W7 Black and Barry M Matt White so you can see the full effect of its prettiness.

I think if I layered this over deep red or forest green it would actually look very Christmassy!

So far I have shown you three of the Mirrorball polishes... keep checking back for the other two very soon :-)

Peach and Gold

I love peach and gold together. This manicure made me smile everytime I looked at it and with the added sparkle from the rhinestones and glitter polish accent nails I just couldnt stop looking at it!

I used this stamp once before in a different colour combination and really didnt like it but today I was feeling brave so thought why not... give it a go. I am so glad I did.

The base colour is Barry M Peach Melba. Seriously this colour is just perfect. The formula is good, the colour stands out and makes me feel summery and thats no bad thing, as I currently have a few days off work.

Swatch of Barry M Peach Melba

To create this manicure I used Barry M Gold Foil to stamp the zig zag design taken from BM 201. I then added three sparkly little peachy coloured rhinestones to my ring finger and one coat of Barry M Gold Glitter to my thumb nail. One final coat of NYC top coat and voila... :-)

I cannot get enough of peach and gold! Love it.

Reversed Anniversary Nail Art

In a moment of madness I decided to take some pictures and share with you my right hand! Which just to be clear means I had to paint and stamp using my much weaker left hand so the results are never quite as pretty. Just to make it harder on myself I also decided to flip the colours so I used Barry M Gold Foil as the base and Konad Special Polish in Black for stamping.

I was a little impatient and added the top coat a few minutes too early so there is a little bit of visible drag in the black Konad polish however I honestly dont think I did a bad job. Even taking the pictures using my left hand to operate the camera was much harder than I imagined but I am glad I decided to share with you.

Everytime my nails catch my eye they make me smile! I just know that I will feel sad when I take them off. However maybe the 10 new polishes I bought today will make me feel better! Seriously its an addiction!!

Here are a couple of swatches of the two Barry M polishes I used to create the full manicure.

Anniversary Nail Art

Proudly presenting my gorgeous (even if I do say so myself) 4th Anniversary nail art. Black and gold is an all time favourite combination of mine so I felt it appropriate to use my favourite colours for one of my favourite occasions. I tried something new and something different on each nail and I absolutley LOVE the results.

I started with a base of Barry M Black. This is a super glossy black that applies perfectly and only needs two thin coats to look this good. I cannot get enough of Barry M nail polishes and have 55 in my current collection! The stamping for each nail was done using Barry M Gold Foil Effects, this is not a colour I would wear alone but it is perfection in a bottle when it comes to stamping.

Index Finger - Kissing Mouth print from BM 303
Middle Finger - Double Lily print from BM 318
Ring Finger - Love Message from BM 311
Little Finger - Heart Print from BM 317

My reasons for these choices are mostly self explanatory given the theme of this manicure is love, but I will just add that I chose the double lily print as we had calla lillies as our wedding flowers, I have a very similar design tattooed on my ribs as a tribute to husband and wife and Craig always buys me huge bunches of lillies for anniversaries and birthdays.

For my thumb nail I used a beautiful scroll design turned on its side from BM 314 and added a number 4 taken from a very small part of a design on BM 311. Here is a close up...

We had such a fantastic day - shopping, eating at Yo Sushi and drinking lots of wine (for me) and whisky (for Craig) and I cant wait to see what the rest of our time off together brings.

I hope you like this nail art as much as I do - any questions or comments I would love to hear from you via the comment facility below.
