Neon Interlocking Dots: A Bit of a Puzzle

Good evening loves

I was supposed to be on holiday today but at the last minute I decided to go into work and save my last day off for in a few weeks time when my sister and her hubby are also off work. We are thinking we might get a boat out and potter around the Norfolk Broads for the day. To cheer me up about being at work I decided to paint a little neon happy on my nails...

First of all let me say these two polishes were THE hardest to accurately colour capture in the world ever! I tried three different rooms and two different cameras. In the end I had to settle for just a few pictures taken outside and they dont do justice to just how wonderful these colours are in real life.

I started with a base of Beach Bag on all nails. Beach Bag is part of the latest Models Own neon collection called Polish for Tans. It really is a stunning coral orange shade and could possibly be similar to the ever popular China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy (I must do a swatch comparison soon).

Then using Flip Flop, the most amaizing intensely neon green, I painted diagonally across each nail and then filled in the tip part so that each nail was divided in two.

Taking a large dotting tool I then went along the diagonal dividing line and added spaced out dots of the opposite colour. Its hard to explain and a little odd to look at until you start to put the final dots of colours on but there are plenty of great tutorials online to explain it much better than me!

I think these interlocking dots look really effective and are a great way to wear two polishes when you just cant decide on one!

  2. I have been wanting to do an interlocking design since October when I got the Barry M Mattes and still haven't! Perfectly executed :) my only possible tip to save two cameras in every lighting scenario is to try holding a white pokish, even if it is entirely unrelated to the design. The white helps the camera figure out what it is seeing. I had to do this tonight with China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.

    1. Thanks Emma. I will definitely try the white balance idea as my pictures were a total pain to capture. I love the interlocking design and will def do it again x

  3. I love this Lou! I need to try this again, the first couple times were a fail. And I need a color similar to Flip Flop, it is perfect! :)
