Peach and Nude Spotty nails

Good evening lovelies

Tonight sees the return of my wonderful new Barry M Gelly polishes. The recently released polishes are named after exotic fruits and are just perfect spring into summer shades. I still need to buy the fourth polish which is a pink one called Dragon Fruit so tonight I am showing you Papaya and Lychee.

I started by painting my index and little fingers with two coats of Papaya, and my middle and ring fingers with two coats of Lychee. Papaya is a beautiful peach to coral shade and applied perfectly. Lychee as I have shown you before is the perfect beige nude.

Using Illamasqua Boosh (black) and my Orly dotting tool I added three rows of alternating dot sizes to each nail. Once Boosh was dry I took Papaya and added a small dot to the centre of each large black one.

As Papaya is such a beautiful shade I decided to leave it alone on this occasion and not add glitter or stamping! Unusual for me, right?

I cannot wait to see what other shades Barry M bring out in this gorgeous Gelly range - I am guessing the summer collection will be stunning :-)

Mixing Spots and Stripes

Good evening lovelies.

How are you? I am so glad today is over with... Tuesday is my least favourite day of the week. I have a strange little logic to explain this so here goes... Monday is my busiest day at work so usually goes pretty quick, Wednesday is the middle of the week, Thursday is almost the weekend and Friday is the weekend. Tuesday is a nothing day! Too far away from the weekend to be exciting and not as busy as a Monday so doesnt quickly enough.

Anyway enough of my odd logic and onto my NOTD...

I started with two beautiful rich coats of Barry M Indigo. This is the perfect shade of Blurple for me and makes a nice change to my trusty Barry M Navy.

My stamping polish is Barry M Silver Foil. I do not own another polish in my whole collection that is as good at stamping as Silver Foil.

I picked the perfect pinstripes and cute little dots from Cheeky plate CH 6. I am so pleased to finally have stripes and spots in my collections that are wide enough for my full nail. Bundle Monster do have similar patterns but they are from the very first plate collection and the designs are teeny weeny.

How do you like the mixture of spots and stripes all in one manicure? Would you rather all nails match?

Dotty for the weekend

Happy Friday!

This weekend could not come soon enough for me! I have been counting down since 9.05 on Monday morning! How bad is that?

Sitting at work during the week I was talking to Faye about colours you shouldn't 'like' together. For example I like pink and red but Faye hates it. We talked about blue and orange together, my instinct was to say no but Faye said yes. I thought give it a try...

 I decided to keep it nice and simple but I was pleased with the results. I used Barry M Blueberry Icecream and No 7 Tangy for the base colours and the dots.

Very simple, yet very effective :-)

To be honest I like colours that clash. I am struggling to think of a combination I wouldn't wear. How about you, do you have colours that are simply a no no?

Dotty About Spots

Time for something a little different. For this mani there is no stamping, no Gold or Silver Foil and no sparkly gems. I used a gorgeous blurple (yes that really is a colour in the nail world - meaning bluey purple) from Barry M called Indigo. One of my girlfriends was sporting this particular shade at a recent Hen Do so I just knew it was time to give it a go myself.

It really is a lovely colour and much more flattering than I thought it might be.

I decided to add some simple polka dots using my dotting tool and two contrasting shades from Barry M - Bright Red and Bright Purple. It is hard to see on the pictures as my new NYC top coat has made my nails look like super shiny glass but I also added some Red and Magenta Glitter spots for a little bit of contrast.

In order to make these dots really stand out against the Indigo base I first of all created them using Barry M Matt White as you can see below. I allowed the White to dry and then dotted over the top with Bright Red and Bright Purple.

Are you dotty about spots? Such a simple but effective idea and as the colour combinations are endless this is a design I can come back to again and again.
