Peacock Nails: Green and Navy

Happy Thursday

So these might be some of my favourite nails... for a long time... maybe even the whole of this year!

I love green, I love feathers and I am a little bit back in love with stamping...

Illamasqua: Viridian and Glitterati duo

Good evening lovelies

This is a quick little post for tonight as I am away with work again, boo :-(

These two gorgeous polishes are a limited edition duo gift set that I was lucky enough to purchase in the Illamasqua January sale for the sum of £15 (usually retails for £27). As soon as I saw the peacock green I knew I had to have this set and I am glad I did...

I used Illamasqua Viridian on all nails apart from my ring finger. Viridian applied perfectly in two easy coats, and actually dries to quite a matt finish but I added a glossy top coat to take full advantage of the shimmer.

With the flash on...

As you can see I used Glitterati as my accent nail. It has a jelly finish to it and a fantastic raspberry/plum/burgandy base.

Apologies for the shortness of this post but I hope you enjoyed this wonderful peacock green as much as I did. Looking forward to getting back home for some serious nail t.l.c.

Peacock skittle nails

Happy Sunday :-)

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends? Today we went for a stroll around the city, enjoyed a little shopping spree and then back home to spend time with the doggies and enjoy a lazy evening.

These pretty peacock nails were a slight labour of love as I had originally intended on using water decals for the two accent nails, however after a frustrating amount of time spent trying to make them look crease free and pretty I gave up and turned to my trusty bundle monster stamps.

To create this look I used W7 Black, BYS Metallic Blue Sapphire and Bourjois Vert Chlorophylle. These are all stunning polishes but in particular I am loving the Bourjois green polish from the So Laque collection. The full range of So Laque polishes is now officially on my lemming list :-)

I stamped in Barry M Silver Foil using the peacock print on plate BM 212. I then used my medium dotting tool to add the feather centres in BYS Metallic Blue Sapphire.

Although I was disappointed to not use the peacock water decals I am really pleased with how this turned out. This stamping is so effective and remains a firm favourite of mine from the 2011 plate collection.

Gorgeous sunshine swatch pictures below... Look at the beautiful shimmer in the BYS Metallic Blue polish. I love that these polishes are only £1.50 each. I am totally buying the whole collection!

I hope you enjoyed this skittle manicure. Do you like wearing something different on each nail?

Have a great Sunday evening

Pretty Peacock

On Sunday my lovely hubby treated me to lunch at a new mexican place we had heard good things about as well as a few new polishes for my ever growing collection. Lunch was good but as this is a nail blog I am guessing you want to hear about the polishes rather than the tasty food.

These beautiful peacock inspired nails were created with two polishes from the H&M collection called Blue My Mind and Come Along With Me.

I will admit that I had a very hard time capturing the true gorgeousness of these colours as my camera just could not cope! I stamped the peacock design using Barry M Gold Foil with the design taken from BM 212.

I found these polishes a little hard to work with, the formula was not an issue but the shape of the lid meant the brush was hard to manoeuvre and almost blocked the view of my nail at times. These polishes retail for only £2.99 each and I would still consider them a worth while addition to my stash.

Here are a couple of pictures taken in direct sunlight to try and capture the differences between the two colours.

This bottle is Blue My Mind

This bottle is Come Along With Me
As you can see I painted alternate nails - Index and Ring have a base colour of Blue My Mind, whilst Middle and Little have a base colour of Come Along With Me. I then added contrasting dots in the opposite colour to create the 'eye' effect seen in peacock feathers.

I really love this look and got lots of compliments at work today.
