Comparison: Barry M Grapefruit versus Barry M Pink Punch

Happy Saturday loves

Had such a nice day today. We arranged a mother daughter dog walk this morning and once we had built up huge appetites by walking around the old quarry we drove to the Swan Inn at Ringland for deli sharing boards and a glass of wine. It was really good to spend time with both my sis and my mum and catch up on all the latest news and gossip.

Just a quick post from me tonight on my super short nubbies. My poor little nails are not in great condition at the moment so I ended up taking them right back to prevent any further splits. Oh well... they will soon grow :-)

Butterfly Wing nails

Tonight is my girly birthday meal.. see what I mean about extended birthdays in my family :-)?

We are going to a Japanese grill called Shiki and I cannot wait. Some of us have been before and the food was amazing, all freshly cooked in front of us by our own chef for the evening. There are 9 of us dining tonight and I just know that we will all love our meals.

I did something a little special to my nails for the occasion...

I started with two quick coats of Barry M Papaya which is a lovely rich peach to orange colour. Then using a small piece of make up sponge I added Barry M Grapefruit to half of each nail.

I then topped each nail off with Northern Lights top coat in Silver. Once that was dry I opened my shiny new stamping plates that had arrived from Israel recently. I had been lemming after these plates for months so once I saw they were back in stock I purchased them quickly. You can read more about how to do that here... Nail Craze.

Using Konad Black I stamped the monarch style butterfly wing onto each nail. I love that you get two different sizes and I love it that the design is flipped so your right and left hands are mirror images.

Finally using a dotting tool and a little white nail polish I added some dots to make my nails look more like authentic monarch butterfly wings.

I am loving how detailed these nails look. I think Natalie from Nail Craze is brilliant for designing this beautiful plate and I look forward to using the others I also purchased from her.

A Fan of Pink and White

Good evening lovelies

Half way through the week already! Where does time disappear to? Tonight I am showing you a mani that I wasn't sure I would include on this blog as I really didnt like it all that much. This detailed fan design looked really pretty on the stamping plate but once on my nails it just looked a bit angular and odd.

I started with two thin coats of Barry M Gelly in Grapefruit. In all honesty you could make do with one thick coat of this pretty hi-shine pink polish but I'm a stickler for two coats! I love this whole range of Gelly polishes and will definitely buy any new colours Barry M releases later this year.

Using Konad White I then stamped this fan design from cheeky plate CH 37. I dont know exactly why I dont like this look as I love pink and white together but this look just did nothing for me :-(.

It makes my nails look rounded when they are actually quite square at the moment...

Not exactly a nail fail but I cannot imagine I will use this fan pattern again. What do you guys think? Are you a fan of fans? :-)

Valentines Nails: Grapefruit and White

Good evening lovelies

How can I resist adding in another Valentine's manicure when it looks as adorable as this? I love coming up with nail art when I have a theme to stick to! All things romantic, heart shaped and love related are top of my list right now and I LOVE it!

I started with two super easy coats of Barry M Gelly in Grapefruit. I forgot how much I love to wear this as a base colour and I cannot stop looking at this colour in the office today! Too distracting :-)

I stamped using several different plates, the first being the mini grafetti hearts found on Cheeky plate CH15. I haven't used this design before and after I stamped it I did think it was a little fussy and hard to see the actual hearts but I like it none the less.

For my ring finger accent I stamped this adorable I Love You symbol from BM02. I don't use the original bundle monster plates all that much as the full nail designs are too small even for my short nails however they do have some great accent designs.

Lastly I stamped this little puckered lip design from the same plate (BM02), one in Konad White and one in Barry M Gelly in Pomegranate.

The final touch was a quick slick of fast drying top coat Hologram in Silver. If you don't own this little beauty from the Northern Lights brand I highly recommend you treat yourself. I use it loads!

Watermelon, Flowers and Grapefruit

Good evening!

I hope you are all well and had fantastic weekends? While I was very glad to not be at work we did spend the whole (and I mean whole) weekend doing essential DIY following a serious leak in our shower which resulted in considerable damage to the bathroom and kitchen. We literally had to rip out the full bathroom suite and start again with all new stuff :-(.

We are not quite finished yet so I am afraid my nails and cuticles will continue to suffer but I will soldier on and still change my polish as often as I can!

I used two coats of Barry M Gelly Watermelon as my base colour. It was a little on the thick side but I guess thats why they are marketed as one coaters (still needs two coats in my opinion).

I stamped using Konad White and one of my go to stamping patterns taken from playe BM 224.

Finally I added some co-ordinating dots using Barry M Gelly in Grapefruit.

These Gelly colours have a high shine formula but I added my usual top coat for extra shine and extra protection. I love the colour and formula of Grapefruit as seen here but I am not a huge fan of this forest green shade - Watermelon. I wanted it to be brighter and more juicy looking!

Grapefruit Gelly with Konad

Evening lovelies :-)

Tonight I have the first polish I purchased from the new Barry M Gelly range. I have been very restrained so far and only bought two out of the nine colours released, of course the other seven will eventually find their way home with me but for now let us concentrate on Grapefruit...

This is a stunning shiny coral colour that dries to a mega high shine. The Gelly collection is designed to look like the very popular Gel finish manicures that last for about 2 weeks. They have that super shiny almost plastic looking finish to them but as they aren't set by using a UV lamp they wouldnt last as long as a real 'Gel' manicure.

From reading the press release I had hoped these would be one coaters but this shade definitely needed two coats for perfect coverage. Never mind as I love the colour and enjoy painting my nails so two coats is no hassle for me.

I stamped this pretty design using my new Konad M78 plate. Some bloggers have called this a faux marble effect - it reminds me of the design you get on top of a nice cream slice from the bakery :-). I used Konad White for my stamping polish.

Just one little swatch picture of Grapefruit before I stamped over it... two coats with no top coat. Gorgeous!

This was a super quick and easy manicure but it is so eye catching and I'm really pleased with it. Do you like the look of this new Gelly collection? Does this mani remind you of a cream slice?
