Textured Polish Challenge: Navy and Butterflies

Happy Friday!

Challenge complete! I made it through the full week with the same textured polish on all nails except my middle and ring fingers. It was the perfect week to do this challenge as my personal nail painting time was limited to less than ten minutes a night! I've done 5 sets of gel polish nails, 2 sets of gel pedicures and been out for a lovely meal to Ask Italian. Busy!

My grande finale nails...

Skittlette: Switch it up

Happy Saturday lovelies!

Just a very quick updated post for me today. I loved my skittlette manicure from yesterday but couldnt help but think how bad that beautiful teal was going to stain my nails. So much so, that I decided to switch out the teal and replace it with a nice simple black.

Navy, Gold and Orange: Same Accent Nail

Good evening lovelies

Time for a quick manicure change... apart from the accent nail. As mentioned in yesterdays post, I loved this orange studded accent nail so much that I vowed to leave it in place for the rest of the week. see how many looks I can come up with before it chips or the studs come off.. :-)

Owl Nails Skittlette

Happy July to you all!

Where does time go? More than half way though the year... we are yet to have summer in the UK (where are you sunshine?!) but on the plus side my family has booked our Christmas Day lunch! Not kidding, you have to book early to get a table for 10 people :-).

I love this manicure for obvious reasons... it has black polish, it has glitter but most importantly it has OWLS!

I started with a base of NYC City Blackout on my index and middle fingers. On my ring finger is my 'recycled' accent nail from a previous manicure and on my little finger is two easy coats of Barry M Gelly in Passion Fruit.

City Blackout was a little on the thin side but evened out nicely and you really cannot grumble at the £1.99 price point! Using Barry M Silver Foil I then stamped this most adorable owl print from plate Pueen 40. I have used this image to make myself some lovely nail polish rings but this is the first time I have used it on my nails!

On my little finger is Passion Fruit by Barry M. This is one of the latest colours to be released and as with all the others it has the most perfect highly pigmented formula. Passion Fruit is described as a neon coral but to me its definitely more red with an orange undertone.

I added a cute black heart shaped ring stone to my little finger for the finishing touch.

I was really pleased with this owl inspired skittlette, people at work were not so complimentary as this seemed to be an accent nail too many for most! :-)

Enjoy your evening

Navy Lace with Silver Accent nail

Happy Sunday to you all!

Hope you have all had fantastic weekends? We have been very lucky with the weather and experienced the hottest day of the year so far today. We managed to make the most of it by being out in the garden and I certainly feel better for it. Last night us girls went for a meal at a restaurant called Prime where the steak is served on a volcanic rock heated to 360 degree so you cook it yourself to your own liking. It was fantastic fun and the steak was amazing! I had mine with garlic butter and stilton sauce! Yums :-).

Here are the nails I did to go with my all time favourite navy dress and lace jacket combo...

I started with base colours of NYC Ink Stain, the most gorgeous and rich shimmering navy blue that looked extra amazing in the sunshine. My ring and thumb accent nails have a base of Color Club On the Rocks.

Then using a-England Merlin (bottle shot above) I added one truly gorgeous cost of crushed silver sparkles to each of my accent nails. All of the a-England polishes are beautiful but to get coverage like this from such a simple looking polish is amazing (if you ask me!).

Just to really finish off my silver accent nails I then added one thin coat of Orly Holy Holo, it is ridiculously dense with large holo glitter particles and was almost blinding in the sun!

To stamp this beautiful lacy style design I returned to Color Club On the Rocks as its subtle silver shimmery goodness was the perfect finish for this manicure.

I love my new Pueen plates so very much... anything lace and love themed is always going to be a winner for me. This particular pattern can be found on plate Pueen 27.

This final picture was taken in the shade just so you could see the lace pattern a little more clearly.

I really hope your weekends have been as lovely as mine, I'm off to enjoy the evening sunshine and a BBQ with the hubs. Thanks for cooking Mr LiPP ;-).

Nautical Nails

Good evening lovelies

I am super glad that today is over with! I had a four hour training session this morning and then a follow up two hour meeting. Too much being talked at for my liking :-).

On the plus side I have been doing lots of lovely Orly Gel FX nails for friends and family this week, if you would like to see pictures you can follow me on Instagram by clicking the 'follow me' link down the right hand side of my blog :-).

Here are my nautical nails of the day...

I started with two easy coats of No 7 Sing the Blues. I love this colour and often overlook it in favour of my precious Barry M's but I really shouldn't. Sing the Blues sits somewhere between navy and royal blue but has a fantastic shimmer that really shows up on the nail.

On my ring finger I used two coats of NYC Times Square. This polish is a gorgeous shade of tomato red and dries in super quick time.

NYC polishes are such a bargain at only £2.79 a bottle and they are quite often on offer so you end up with two bottles for £2.99. How can you not love a polish that costs just 20p :-).

Using Barry M Gold Foil I stamped these two different nautical themed designs from my latest collection of Cheeky plates. The steering wheels from CH 49 and the anchors from CH 36.

Last but not least I added some horizontal stripes using Konad White. The stripes are actually vertical on the plate but as my nails are short I can flip it around and use them horizontally. I added a row of small gold studs to replicate a Captains uniform.

Nice and nautical!

How do you like these nails? My sister in law Vicky will just love them and now I have a shortcut to getting perfect stripes everytime I will definitely replicate this manicure on her :-)

On the ball City! Football nails

Good evening lovelies

Much to the surprise of many people... I am actually a keen football fan. I am luckily enough to live in a city whose football team is currently enjoying a spell in the English Premier League.

I designed these nails for a friend of mine but of course had to test them out on myself first :-)

For this look I started with two colours from the NYC In a New York Colour Minute collection - the stunning green is called High Line Green and the bright yellow is called Lexington Yellow. Both colours applied exceptionally well especially when you consider this range is available at £2.49 for two polishes.

Using my gold hex glitters from the Born Pretty Store I then applied NCFC to fingers before using my black nail art pen to write the now famous slogan... On the ball City on my thumb.

These individual glitters are so pretty and could make any plan manicure look fantastic :-).

Good Luck for the rest of the season Norwich City Football Club

Red and Yellow Flowers

Hey lovelies

After my success of using yellow as an accent nail I decided to use my least favourite colour in an even bolder way... I hope you like my nail of the day :-)

For this multi coloured summery look my base colours are Barry M Yellow for my index and ring fingers with NYC Times Square for my middle and little fingers. Both colours were perfect in three thin coats and I think they go really well together.

I added a quick coat of Northern Lights Gold Hologram top coat to quicken up the drying time but also to acheive that beautiful holo shimmer you can see particularly well on my little finger.

I stamped using Konad White and a flower pattern taken from Cheeky plate CH 12.

I dotted the flower centres using the alternative base colour...

Finally I added three different sized dots to my ring and little fingers using my dotting tools and the alternative base colours.

How do you like this look? Doesn't it put you in the mood for summer? I love this tomato shade of red and yellow combo :-). I never thought I would say that!

Fishnets and Flowers!

Good evening lovelies!

Tonight I would like to show you this cute little manicure which originally started as me experimenting with colours but ended up being a combination I really like.

I started with two coats of NYC Lavendar Cupcake. Its a really good polish considering how reasonably priced it is. The colour is quite a pale shade of lilac which I much prefer and actually makes a really good base for bright nail art.

I then decided to try stamping with my gorgeous Barry M Gelly Pomegranate. This range of polishes are advertised as one coaters which usually means they will be perfect for stamping - I was right...

First I stamped the criss cross fishnet style design from Cheeky plate CH 11, then I decided to add a little more detail so reached for this pretty trio of flowers from Konad plate M57,

Do you think it looks a little like lace nails?

I am really pleased with the finished design and am toying with the idea of setting myself a mini challenge... how many different designs could I come up with in one week, all incorporating the trio of lilies? What do you think?

Fussy Flowers and moving with the times!

Good evening my lovelies

Are you all as sad as me to be back at work? My goodness it has been a struggle although I really shouldn't complain as it is such a short week! Especially as I have Friday off on holiday :-). We girlies are off to London for the weekend in celebration of our friend Samatha's birthday. We have a theatre trip planned, a day at Winter Wonderland and then a meal in Canary Wharf which will no doubt include a few drinks.

I don't have any posts lined up so unless I magic up some time between now and then I am afraid it will be a quiet weekend on the blog. However I do have one little bit of exciting news to share with you... I finally moved into the 21st Century (kicking and screaming) and opened a Twitter account! I know I am so old skool! I am gradually getting used to it and will only tweet a few times a day for now but if you would like to follow me I can be found at... @L_i_P_P

Onto my nails of the day...

I started with two super easy coats of NYC Water Street Blue. I got this in a 3 for 2 deal on Boxing day and I love it. I know I have lots of blue in my collection but honestly in my opinion you cannot have too many! ;-)

Using Konad White I then stamped this quite fussy floral design from Cheeky plate CH 44

Absolutely loving this blue...

I wish all my nail bottles were this Konad shape as I always love how these pictures turn out - its such a great nail angle.

I added some very small dots to the centre of the flowers using Barry M Gelly in Pomegranate. Below is a quick bottle shot - I cannot wait to show you a full mani using this gorgeous colour.

Thanks for reading

Movember Nail Art

As we are now more than half way through Movember I thought it about time I show my support as the wife of a Mo Bro to all those men out there who are busily styling moustaches and raising money for a fantastic cause.  The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer. For more information please visit Movember UK.
Mr LiPP is sporting a rather impressive moustache and has raised a fantastic £300 so far! Whilst facial hair is not my cup of tea, I do support my husbands decision to be involved in this charitable month and I am proud of him for raising so much money.

For this manicure I started with three thin coats of NYC Lavendar Cupcake. A really pretty lilac that I had forgotten how much I liked until I used it tonight.

Using my black nail art pen I free handed the moustaches onto my ring finger and thumb. Considering free hand is not my thing I am pleased with how they turned out - Cute!!

Then using Barry M Lilac Foil I added these wood effect stripes using BM 309 to just my index and middle fingers... still loving the Skittlette mani :-)

Purple heart rhinestones were the perfect addition to these two nails and it finished them off nicely

Finally for my little finger I decided to keep it simple and add a layer of Barry M Lavender Hex. It contains lots of very reflective lilac square glitters not to mention the millions of lilac micro glitters that are set into the clear base. Super pretty!

Congratulations to all you money raising men out there - great job for a truly worthy cause.
